Portable Dishwashers

Portable dishwashers are great if you want a full-sized dishwasher but do not have the space for installation.  Most of the higher end portable dishwashers offer the option to use as a portable dishwasher or as an installed dishwasher.  This is convenient for renters who plan on buying their own home.

Portable dishwashers are on wheels so that you can roll your unit out of the way.  Getting a portable dishwasher is also a great idea for people with limited counter space.  You can use the top of your portable dishwasher as extra counter space.

Maytag JetClean II

The Maytag JetClean is the choice for someone who wants their portable dishwashers to be as good as an installed one.  Maytag has put enough power into this unit that you will feel comfortable installing it if you choose.

At 24 inches, it's larger than many other portable dishwashers.  Its upper rack is removable if you need to wash larger items.  The silverware tray can also be removed

The Maytag JetClean has three spray arms and a variety of wash cycles so that even your tougher to clean dishes can be cleaned in the Maytag.  It's quiet for a dishwasher and can be set on a delay timer so you never have to worry about the dishwasher being too noisy.

Haier Portable Space-Saving Dishwasher

 haier portable dishwasher

The Haier Portable Space-Saving Dishwasher does have its flaws, but it's a good choice if you hate washing dishes by hand but lack the space necessary for either a countertop dishwasher or a larger portable model.

First, the flaws.  If your plates are larger than 9 3/4", they won't fit the correct way into the dishwasher.  This is a small unit, and it shows in the reduced capacity.  With some rearranging, larger plates can fit, but you won't get a full load done this way.  The washer holds a sinkful of dishes, so plan on running the dishwasher frequently.

The hoses are on the short side at 6', and are not retractable.  If this is an issue, consider replacing the hoses with longer ones.  Leaking can be a problem.  Make sure you check all of the hoses before running the dishwasher.  Most leaks can be easily fixed with some extra washers and silicon tape, but if you need a dishwasher that is ready right from the box, you might want to pass on the Haier.

If you are willing to spend some extra time making sure your Haier functions properly, you will be pleased with the results.  If you use good detergent and keep the dishwasher on a level and flat surface, your dishes will be clean, even without rinsing the dishes before hand.

The Haier is a good choice if you lack space in your home and have a willingness and aptitude to make sure that everything works correctly.
